The final season

Por: Sofía Suárez y Gaia Gallizugaro

As we begin the final chapter of our high school journey, there’s plenty to plan as we embark on the next adventure ahead of us. Where am I gonna study? Will I retake the SAT? Are my grades good enough? Should I take a step back and enjoy my final year at Colegio Bolívar? Plenty to think of and plenty to do, but there never seems to be enough time to complete it all. Here are a few things on our seniors’ schedule in terms of applying to college as we get ready to leave the nest and fly into the real world.

´What’s constantly disrupting our thoughts is applying to college. Many have already begun this process and some have even turned in applications, while others don’t have a clue of what they should do. Multiple meetings with Andrea Peisker, our beloved college counselor; pestering Isa Sanint for our transcripts and AP exam inscription; attending webinars and visiting universities; and hustling to find who will speak wonders of us and our academic development in a letter of recommendation is all part of the process. We’re lucky to attend a school that encourages us to reach for our academic goals, no matter how crazy they might seem. So don’t stress about it, you’re actually more in control than you think you are. But also, don’t procrastinate, since not only are there several students around the country and around the globe with your same dreams and academic aspirations, but if you’re thinking of studying abroad, some of these applications are due before the end of the year. It’s no wonder that the words “college” and “university” and the ones on everyone’s mouths these days, with a tone of excitement and terror at the uncertainty of our futures. Just know that wherever you end up is where you’re supposed to be.

In every stressful situation, it’s important to enjoy the journey. In every process, no matter how overwhelming or hostile it might get, there’s always a lesson to be learned. So remember to try your best, work hard, and keep a positive and optimistic attitude, the rest will fall into place. Good luck!
